Description

Cuckooflower (Cardamine pratensis)

Cuckooflower is an early summer flower of damp grassland.  This elegant perennial has very pale pink petals and is the food plant for the caterpillars of the Orange-tip butterfly. 20-30cm.

Sowing:  Can be sown at any time of year, but best in early autumn or in spring.  Sow in trays or pots of moist compost and transplant to an open site that does not dry out, or scatter the seed directly onto a fine raked seed bed and firm down well.  Water well and keep the young plants weeded.
